What is the Krillion Words pack?
It is the main game with the prompt pool narrowed to words. Seven open prompts, one typed answer each, 25 seconds per prompt, and points by rarity. Word prompts suit the format because almost everyone shares the same first answer: the shortest, most common member of the family. The score comes from moving one step sideways inside a language you already speak.
The deep end is not obscure vocabulary for its own sake. It is the real word behind the obvious one: a longer -tion noun, a rhyme that is spelled differently, a word whose silent letter is easy to forget because nobody says it.
What you'll be asked
The 34 prompts cover the reliable shapes of a word round:
- Sound — rhymes for day, cat, light and blue.
- Morphology — prefixes, suffixes, -tion, -ing and compound words.
- Spelling — double letters, silent letters, palindromes and homophones.
- Meaning — synonyms, antonyms and collective nouns.
- Roots — Greek and Latin borrowings that built the long words.
| Prompt | Easy answer | Deep answer |
|---|---|---|
| Name a word that ends in -tion | Action · 10 | Consubstantiation · 100 |
| Name a word with a silent letter | Knife · 10 | Phlegm · 100 |
| Name a palindrome | Radar · 10 | Tenet · 100 |
How a words dive runs
Seven prompts are dealt from the words pool. Each accepts one typed answer and grades it against a hand built list. Matching ignores case, accents, punctuation and apostrophes, and each answer carries aliases for the ways people actually type it. A match earns the tier's points; a miss is marked on the results screen.
The pack rewards the second answer, not the longest word. A short, precise word that most players would not reach in 25 seconds can score more than a long word that misses the prompt.
Why the obvious word scores least
Basic vocabulary is the most rehearsed language we have. “Action”, “happy”, “big” and “knife” are learned early and typed without thinking, which is exactly why they sit at ten points. The game is not asking whether you know them. It is asking whether you can move past them in twenty five seconds.
The deep answer is usually a real, checkable word that sits behind the obvious one: a longer noun with the same ending, a rhyme from a different spelling family, a word whose silent letter is invisible until you write it.
One prompt, three shelves
| Prompt: “Name a word that ends in -tion” | Tier | Points | Depth |
|---|---|---|---|
| Action — correct, and everyone's first answer | Plankton | 10 | 100 m |
| Obfuscation — correct, and a real step sideways | Rare | 60 | 600 m |
| Consubstantiation — correct, and almost nobody reaches it | Deepest | 100 | 1,000 m |
All three are real words. The only difference is how far the word sits from the first one that comes to mind.
Going deeper: sound, shape and roots
Three habits produce most of the deep answers. Listen for the rhyme family rather than the spelling: “light” rhymes with “write” and “kite”, not just “night”. Look at the shape of the word: prefixes and suffixes tell you where the base is. And use roots: if you know that “tele” means far and “phone” means sound, the long words stop being random.
None of this requires a dictionary in your head. It requires the willingness to spend the second half of the clock looking for a second answer, which is the same skill the main game teaches.
The words pack in the bigger game
Words is one of eight themed packs, alongside geography, movies, sports, music, food, history and science. The mixed game is the better test of range; the pack is the better test of depth in one subject.
Words pack: frequently asked questions
Is Krillion Words free to play?
Yes. The pack is free and unlimited, with no account and no daily cap. Every dive deals seven word prompts from the bank, using the same six rarity tiers as the main game.
Which kinds of word puzzles does the pack cover?
Rhymes, prefixes and suffixes, syllable counts, palindromes, silent letters, homophones, compound words, Greek and Latin roots, and synonyms. A dive usually mixes several of those.
Why did "action" score so little?
Because it is one of the first words most players type for a -tion prompt. It is correct and common, which is exactly what puts it in the Plankton tier. The deep answers are real words with the same ending but a much lower chance of being typed under a clock.
Do I need to spell the word exactly?
No. Matching ignores case, accents, punctuation and apostrophes, so “café” and “cafe” are the same answer. If a valid spelling still misses, send it in and it will be graded by hand.
Is this the official Krillion words pack?
No. This is an independent, fan made game with its own prompt bank and hand graded answers. It is not affiliated with krillion.io, any dictionary, publisher or word game.
